Impressive. Serena Williams' husband invests major sum in Chelsea women's team
Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis superstar Serena Williams, has made a significant investment in women's football. The businessman and Reddit co-founder has decided to invest £20 million in the Chelsea Women's team, according to talkSPORT.
According to the report, these funds will be used to strengthen the club's presence in the United States and further develop women's football. Notably, Ohanian's investment represents 8% of the club's total funding round. As a result, the entrepreneur will join the team's board of directors.
It's worth mentioning that Ohanian was previously a majority shareholder in Angel City FC in the National Women's Soccer League. Additionally, he and his wife are involved in other sports ventures, including Tomorrow's Golf League, working alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Ohanian has also expressed interest in investing in women's golf.
Furthermore, Ohanian and Williams are even planning to attend the Women's FA Cup final, where Chelsea Women will face Manchester United Women. It's worth noting that Chelsea Women have already clinched the Women's Super League title this season.
