“I’m very upset”: Xavi commented on Barcelona’s failure in the yesterday's match with Valencia

After facing defeats in their previous two matches, Barcelona clashed with Valencia at the "Mestalla" within the seventeenth round of La Liga. Earlier, they suffered a 2-3 loss against Antwerp in the Champions League and a 2-4 defeat against Girona in the championship. They aimed to display their traditional football style and finally delight their fans but fell short of securing a victory against "Los Che". Throughout the season, Barcelona has crafted numerous astonishing moments, yet only a few have materialized into goals.

In the encounter with Valencia, Barcelona attempted sixteen shots, eight of which were on target, compared to their opponents' four shots, eleven of which were attempts. Taking into account three previous games across all competitions, Barça attempted 58 shots, hitting the target 22 times, resulting in a meager tally of five goals. According to OptaJose, Barcelona currently leads among the top five European leagues for missed opportunities (41).

Post-match, Barcelona's coach, Xavi, expressed that they deserved to win but highlighted their standing as one of the poorest-performing teams in Europe at present.

"We deserved to win; we did everything. What has been happening in terms of effectiveness in recent weeks has repeated itself. This match, to a large extent, sums up our season. We are working on efficiency, but it depends on the players' confidence.

We are one of the worst-performing teams in Europe. I'm very disappointed."

Xavi's role is now considerably under scrutiny, as if Girona manages to defeat Alaves in tomorrow's match, Barcelona's deficit from the leader will extend to nine points.
