"I'm not Kurt Zouma": José Mourinho delivers sarcastic response to dog vs. cat question
Fenerbahçe head coach José Mourinho, well-known for his sharp wit and dry humor, couldn't resist making a cheeky remark during an episode of the Obi One podcast, hosted by former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.
During their conversation, Mikel asked Mourinho a lighthearted question—whether he prefers dogs or cats. The Portuguese manager responded that he prefers dogs, before sarcastically adding, "But I have no problem with cats… I’m not Kurt Zouma." Both men burst into laughter at the remark.
Mourinho’s comment was a direct reference to the 2022 scandal involving Kurt Zouma, when the West Ham defender was caught on video kicking his pet cat, footage that was filmed and shared by his brother.
As a result, Zouma was heavily punished—West Ham fined him £250,000, he was convicted on two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, sentenced to 180 hours of unpaid community service, and fined an additional £8,887. Furthermore, he was banned from owning a cat for five years.
Since August 2024, Zouma has been playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Orobah.
