“I’m excited about the prospect of managing a big club,” says Yaya Toure, Slovan Bratislava’s new head coach
The former Ivory Coast international is set to take on his first role as head coach.
Yaya Toure has officially taken the reins of Slovan Bratislava’s first team. The Ivorian tactician’s appointment was made official this Saturday 13 June. The former FC Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the Slovakian club.
The Ivorian has had several stints as an assistant coach before being appointed head coach at Slovan Bratislava. Upon signing his contract, the 43-year-old Ivorian tactician expressed his enthusiasm.
“I am very happy and excited. Honestly, I can’t wait for us to start working together on Monday. My predecessor deserves great respect for what he has achieved with Slovan. I want to build on that whilst bringing something new and unique of my own. Football is everything to me. I love a challenge and I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of managing a great club with a rich history, a magnificent stadium and big ambitions. I appreciate that this opportunity has come about at a top-flight club, which I recently watched in a Champions League match against Manchester City.”
