Ilay Camara a doubt for the World Cup with Senegal
Called up by Pape Thiaw, he was forced off with an injury during a league match on Thursday.
Senegal is holding its breath for Ilay Camara. Although he features on the list of players called up for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the Lion of Teranga may ultimately be unable to answer Pape Thiaw’s call.
And with good reason: an injury that could rule the player out. Indeed, Ilay Camara was unable to see out the match between his club Anderlecht and Sint-Truiden in the league on Thursday 21 May. He was substituted in the 14th minute.
The nature, let alone the extent, of his injury is not yet known. However, concern has gripped the Senegalese with just a few weeks to go before the World Cup.
Ilay Camara missed the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco due to injury.
