Ghana President John Dramani Mahama has questioned the commitment of some Black Stars players following the country's disappointing campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking after the tournament, Mahama stressed that representing Ghana should come with pride and passion, pointing specifically to the players' lack of enthusiasm while singing the national anthem before matches.
The President compared Ghana's players to those from other nations, saying the difference in passion was clear to see on the global stage.
“During the World Cup, our players couldn’t sing the national anthem, while players from other countries sang with pride. If you cannot sing the national anthem, you cannot be part of the team.”
