Idriss Diallo reaffirms Emerse Fae’s independence at the helm of the national team
The president of the Ivorian Football Federation was keen to clarify how the national team operates with regard to sporting decisions and team management.
As Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae prepares to announce the squad list for the World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Idriss Diallo sought to put an end to speculation regarding any potential influence on the selection of the Elephants.
He emphasised that the manager is solely responsible for decisions relating to the national team. The Federation president believes that any intervention on his part could undermine the work of the coaching staff and create confusion in the event of poor results.
I do not interfere with Emerse Faé’s squad list. It is Fae who will select the players, train them and field them on the pitch. If I start to interfere in his decisions and there is a problem tomorrow, he could say to me: ‘President, you are the one who chose them.
