"I was furious". Maldini remembers calling Messi to Milan

Former Milan technical director Paolo Maldini recalled how he tried to lure then-Barcelona leader Lionel Messi into the Italian team.
The events took place in 2020 and then there were rumors that the Argentinean could move to another club from Milan - Inter.
“When I read that Messi could go to Inter, I was furious. For 10 days I tried to bring him to Milan, but then we realized that it was impossible. I think a player like him is a show for everyone, even if it's late. This man is capable of doing things that always surprise", - Maldini said on the PoretCast podcast.
Let us note that the Argentinean’s transfer to Inter did not take place in the end. A year later, the captain of the Argentina national team moved to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and spent two seasons with the team from Paris. Last summer he moved to the USA, where he plays for Inter Miami.
Maldini worked at Milan from 2018 to 2023.
