Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has spoken with excitement after arriving in Madrid to start a new chapter with Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old touched down in the Spanish capital on Sunday, ending months of speculation and tense negotiations with Atalanta.

Atletico confirmed the signing after Atalanta finally accepted a €40 million deal, including a €35 million fixed fee and €5 million in add-ons. The Italian club had blocked several attempts for the winger to leave since last summer, despite his desire for a new challenge.

Lookman is expected to undergo medical tests on Monday before signing a long-term contract. His exit closes a memorable spell in Bergamo, highlighted by his historic Europa League final hat-trick in 2024.
