Hungary - Switzerland. Predicted line-ups and latest news, – June 15, 2024
The last match of the first round of UEFA Euro 2024 Group A between Hungary and Switzerland will take place on 15 June.
The teams are approaching the meeting in somewhat different moods. The Hungarians have won only one of their two summer friendlies, defeating Israel 3-0, just as the Swiss had one victory in June, more confidently defeating Estonia 4-0.
But, Murat Yakin's team drew 1-1 with Austria in the second friendly, while the Hungarians lost 1-2 to Ireland.
Nevertheless, there was some good news for the Hungarians before the match with Switzerland. One of the leaders of the team, Dominik Szoboszlai, returned to training with the team, who recovered from the injury received in the sparring with Israel and is ready to play in the opening match of the European Championship.
The Liverpool midfielder himself had this to say about his injury:
"At least the chance of getting injured was lower and I could concentrate on the European Championships sooner."
What can't be said about Callum Styles and Loic Nego, who are still not ready for game practice and continue to heal minor injuries. The Hungarian federation does not give any information about the timing of their readiness. Without considering them, Marco Rossi will be able to count on all the players who are present in the squad.
As for Switzerland, Steven Zuber suffered a bruised calf muscle in the friendly against Austria and could only take part in Wednesday's individual training session, which puts his participation in the game against Hungary in doubt.
However, Monaco duo Briel Embolo and Denis Zakaria have shrugged off their injury problems and took part in team training this week, and they could be in the squad for the game against Hungary.
