Hungarian Grand Prix 2024: date, time and where to watch the Formula 1 race

This week, the Formula 1 World Championship returns. On Friday, July 19, the Hungarian Grand Prix begins, running through Sunday, July 21.

The first Hungarian Grand Prix took place on June 21, 1936, on a 3.1-mile track in Népliget Park in the center of Budapest. Teams such as Mercedes, Auto Union, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo competed in that race.

The history of the Hungarian Grand Prix was revived in 1986, with the event held at the newly constructed Hungaroring, built near Budapest in a short period. The Hungarian Grand Prix replaced the European Grand Prix in the calendar and became the first Grand Prix behind the "Iron Curtain."
