Real Madrid fans will have to wait several more months for Rodrygo’s comeback.

Details: According to COPE, the 25-year-old Brazilian winger is still recovering from a severe injury, with his return to the pitch expected only at the beginning of 2027.

Rodrygo is still undergoing a lengthy rehabilitation process and is not rushing his recovery. The club intends to exercise maximum caution and will only let the player return when the risk of recurrence is minimized. Spanish sources had previously reported a similar recovery timeline.

Let’s recall, Rodrygo’s troubles began back in March. Medical tests revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament as well as damage to the lateral meniscus in his right knee. Real officially confirmed the seriousness of the injury, and it became clear that the Brazilian’s season was over ahead of schedule.

On March 10, the player underwent surgery. Initially, the recovery period was estimated at about 10–12 months. Due to this injury, Rodrygo was also forced to miss the 2026 World Cup, and the main priority for both the player and Real Madrid’s medical staff became a full rehabilitation, with no attempts to rush his return.

So, if the current timeline holds, Rodrygo won’t feature for Real until the end of the 2026 calendar year. The exact date of his first match after injury remains unknown—it will all depend on how his rehabilitation progresses.

It’s worth noting that Rodrygo’s current contract with Real runs until the summer of 2028. Despite this devastating injury, the Madrid club still counts on the Brazilian after his return.

Reminder: Hungry for trophies! Mbappé promises Real fans a big season.
