Horror in Spanish football! Player knocked unconscious by brutal kick to the head as ambulance enters pitch
Terrifying scenes in Spanish football left players and supporters fearing for the safety of a Sabadell midfielder.
Details: During Saturday's Segunda División clash between Albacete and Sabadell, Nigerian midfielder Quadri Liameed was knocked unconscious after receiving a powerful kick to the head from José Corpas. The incident occurred in the 42nd minute, when Liameed attempted to head the ball clear while the Albacete player swung his leg to make contact with it. Instead of striking the ball, Corpas caught his opponent directly in the head, sending him collapsing to the ground.
Medical staff from both teams immediately rushed onto the pitch as Liameed lay motionless on the grass. After several tense minutes, an ambulance was brought directly onto the field at the Carlos Belmonte stadium to transport the midfielder to hospital for urgent examinations.
Fortunately, the footballer regained consciousness before leaving the stadium. The referee showed Corpas a straight red card for the dangerous challenge, which appeared to be accidental. The Albacete player was visibly affected by the incident.
Sabadell subsequently provided reassuring news. Medical examinations revealed no serious problems, and Liameed was discharged from hospital later that night. He returned to Sabadell accompanied by a member of the club's medical staff.
It's worth noting that Albacete eventually secured a 2-1 victory despite playing with ten men. Eneko Aguilar scored Sabadell's only goal in the 81st minute, but the visitors were unable to complete a comeback.
