Historic success. Jordan will play in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup for the first time

Jordan's national team has become the first semifinalist of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. In the quarterfinal match, they managed to narrowly defeat tournament debutants Tajikistan.

The only goal of the match was an own goal scored by Tajikistan. In the 66th minute, defender Vahdat Khanonov from the Iranian club Persepolis registered an own goal.

This marks the first time in its history that Jordan has reached the semifinals of the AFC Asian Cup. In 2005 and 2011, they reached the semifinals but were eliminated by Uzbekistan and Japan, respectively.

Jordan will face the winner of today's match between Australia and South Korea in the semifinal, competing for a spot in the final.
