The fifth round of Ligue 1 in France featured a match between Nice and Saint-Étienne, and the first half of this encounter was a true nightmare for the visitors.
Nice opened the scoring in just the fourth minute, and three minutes later, the score became 2-0 in favor of the hosts. As a result, Nice scored six goals against Saint-Étienne, with the guests unable to respond. This marked a historic failure for Saint-Étienne.
Firstly, in official matches, the team conceded six goals in a single half for the first time. Additionally, it was the first time since 1984 that Saint-Étienne allowed five goals in 45 minutes. Notably, Nice became the first team to score five or more goals since 1997.
Reminder: Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold may become the owner of a famous football club. Through a London investment company, the England international has made an offer to buy Ligue 1 club Nantes, with an initial bid of 100 million euros.
