The Europa League has never seen an outfield debutant with such longevity.

The big story is that Porto's starting lineup featured 41-year-old Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who, by stepping onto the pitch today, became the oldest outfield debutant in Europa League history.
Previously in his career, Thiago Silva had only played in the Champions League, representing clubs like Milan, PSG, and Chelsea. Now, Silva has made his Europa League debut at the age of 41 years and 171 days.
Thiago Silva joined Porto this January as a free agent from Fluminense. The Brazilian has already played 7 matches for Porto, though he has yet to register a goal or assist.
