Historic 16th goal! Igor Thiago sets new Premier League record among Brazilian players
Brentford forward Igor Thiago has set a new all-time Premier League record among Brazilian players.
Details: The 24-year-old striker netted his 15th and 16th goals of the current Premier League season in the match against Sunderland, surpassing the previous record held by several Brazilians, each of whom had stopped at 15 goals.
Now, Igor Thiago stands alone as the top-scoring Brazilian in a single Premier League season:
- 16 — Igor Thiago (2025/26)
- 15 — Roberto Firmino (2017/18)
- 15 — Gabriel Martinelli (2022/23)
- 15 — Matheus Cunha (2024/25)
Remarkably, Thiago achieved this feat only in his second season in England, after a debut year hampered by numerous injuries. In the clash with Sunderland, Keith Andrews' side cruised to a 3-0 victory at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the Brazilian emerging as the undisputed hero of the match.
Reminder: Brentford have made an offer for Nigerian player Sani Suleiman.
