Catalan football club Espanyol has officially announced the end of its partnership with head coach Manolo González.

Details: The Parakeets' management thanked the 47-year-old Spanish coach for his many years of dedicated work within the club's structure and wished him success in his future endeavors. The decision to change managers was made by the board of directors against the backdrop of a difficult position in the standings and the team's inconsistent performances in the domestic league.

The Barcelona club's chiefs have already begun drawing up a shortlist of potential successors in the dugout. The new permanent head coach or interim manager is expected to be announced by the end of the current week, allowing the team to prepare for the next La Liga round without disruption.

It is worth noting that Manolo González worked within Espanyol's structure for many years, initially taking charge of the club's youth side. After assuming control of the first team in spring 2024, the coach managed to pull off a sporting feat by leading the Catalan outfit back to Spain's top flight after winning the Segunda play-offs.
