The Eagles of Carthage suffered another setback in Group F on 21 June at the World Cup currently being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

At the end of this match on the second day of the group stage, Tunisia’s manager, Hervé Renard, made no secret of his disappointment. The French tactician, appointed just a few days ago, acknowledged his opponents’ superiority.

Whilst Tunisia’s elimination is already a foregone conclusion, Hervé Renard is calling on his players to show character in order to finish the tournament with honour.

“We were too loose defensively. The players tried their best and didn’t give up. But we were beaten by a team that is far superior to us. We need to hang in there during these difficult times. It’s going to take pride to play the third match to the best of our ability.”

It should be noted that Hervé Renard was appointed Tunisia’s manager on 15 June following the sacking of Sabri Lamouchi after the Eagles of Carthage’s heavy defeat against Sweden (5–1).
