“Hervé Renard embodied all these qualities,” explains Idriss Diallo regarding the choice of Ivory Coast's new head coach
The president of the Ivorian Football Federation explained the reasons behind the appointment of the French coach.
Hervé Renard was officially presented on 6 August 2026 as the new heah coach of the Ivory Coast national team. At a press conference marking the French manager’s appointment, the president of the Ivory Coast Football Federation, Idriss Diallo, explained the reasoning behind his choice.
Idriss Diallo emphasised that a federation’s mission is to ensure continuity whilst adapting to new challenges. According to his statement, the appointment of Hervé Renard is fully in line with this vision.
“The responsibility of a federation is to build, consolidate, evolve and adapt. Our plan is simple: to continue the work already done and improve upon it for the benefit of Ivory Coast.
The Executive Committee felt that Hervé Renard possessed all these qualities. The Federation will do everything in its power to provide him with the best possible working conditions so that he can achieve the objectives set.
With the ongoing support of the Government, which has always spared no effort in backing the Elephants, we are ready to tackle the challenges ahead together.”
