Hervé Renard could make a return as head coach of the Ivory Coast national team

The French tactician is tipped to succeed Emerse Faé, whose contract has not been renewed.

Ivory Coast is on the lookout for a new head coach for its national team. Emerse Faé, who won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with the Elephants, saw his tenure come to an end on Friday 31 July.

The Ivorian manager was not reappointed following the expiry of his contract. Following Emerse Faé’s departure, a new manager must take over ahead of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, Hervé Renard is reportedly the Ivorian Football Federation’s favourite. The 57-year-old French manager, who recently turned down an offer from Tunisia, is said to be in pole position to take the reins of the Ivorian national team once again.

Hervé Renard knows the Ivory Coast Elephants well. He managed the Ivorian team from June 2014 to May 2015. His time at the helm of the Ivory Coast national team was marked by the Elephants’ victory at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

A return to the helm of the Ivory Coast’s coaching staff cannot therefore be ruled out.
