Almada is gearing up to kick off a new chapter of his career back home.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, River Plate have reached a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada. The deal has received the signature here we go confirmation.

The player himself has already approved the personal terms with the Argentine club. Now both parties just need to review the documents and proceed with the official paperwork.

Marca reports that the transfer fee will be around €20 million. After all legal formalities are completed, Almada will officially become a River Plate player.

It's worth noting that last season the Argentine featured in 40 matches for Atletico across all competitions, scoring four goals.

At the 2026 World Cup, Thiago Almada played five matches for Argentina, starting three times and logging 243 minutes on the pitch. The midfielder finished the tournament without goals or assists, picking up a single yellow card.
