Newcastle have clinched one of Matthias Jaissle's top transfer targets.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle have reached an agreement with Benfica for the transfer of 23-year-old defender Amar Dedić. The deal is done—the total package will amount to €35 million, with the Lisbon club also securing a percentage of any future sale.

At the same time, Benfica were reluctant to let Dedić go and had hoped to retain him in their squad. However, the Bosnian defender made joining Newcastle his top priority and was determined to continue his career in the Premier League.

One decisive factor for the defender was the opportunity to work under Matthias Jaissle. Now, with all parties reaching a final agreement, the transfer is in its closing stages.

It's worth noting that last season, Dedić made 43 appearances for Benfica across all competitions, scoring once and providing six assists. Dailysports also highlights that 14 of those appearances came in the Champions League.

Reminder: Release clause set at €50 million! Newcastle learn Dedić's price and plot a clever move.
