Monaco is on the verge of appointing a legendary player as their new head coach.
Details: According to insider Fabrizio Romano, Monaco has reached a full agreement on contract terms with Filipe Luis, who will become the new head coach of the Monegasques.
This move by the club’s management has taken Ligue 1 insiders by surprise, as the young Brazilian coach had previously been heavily linked with other top teams. Nevertheless, Monaco’s hierarchy managed to act swiftly—with Filipe Luis himself already giving the green light for the move to the principality.
The employment agreement between the former Atlético and Chelsea defender and the French club is set for the long term—the contract runs until June 2028. The mastermind and driving force behind this sensational appointment was Monaco’s sporting director Thiago Scuro, who personally conducted negotiations and convinced his compatriot to lead the project.
It's worth noting that the Brazilian coach was dismissed from his position at Flamengo in December and has been out of work since then.
Reminder: Chelsea completed the transfer of defender Levi Colwill to Liverpool.
