Here we go! Fiorentina pull off surprise move for Sporting star
Fiorentina have produced one of the surprises of the final hours of the transfer window.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina have reached an agreement with Sporting to sign Portuguese attacker Pedro Gonçalves. The 28-year-old is set to move to Florence on an initial loan, with the clubs already agreeing the key financial terms of the operation.
Fiorentina will pay €2.5 million for the loan. The agreement also includes an option to buy Gonçalves for €22.5 million, meaning the total value of the operation could reach €25 million if the permanent clause is activated.
There is another important detail in the agreement: the €22.5 million purchase option could become mandatory if certain objectives specified in the deal are achieved. CNN Portugal has also reported the €2.5 million loan fee.
The move represents a major change for Gonçalves, who has been with Sporting since 2020 and became one of the club's most productive attacking players during his spell in Lisbon. Transfermarkt currently values the Portuguese international at €25 million.
It is worth noting that Gonçalves scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists in 28 Liga Portugal appearances for Sporting last season. His current contract with the Portuguese club runs until the summer of 2030.
