Here we go! FA Cup hero seals emotional Palace return after late twist
Crystal Palace have turned deadline day heartbreak into a reunion: Ben Chilwell is coming back to Selhurst Park.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, the left-back returns to Palace from Strasbourg, here we go, with the agreement in place and paperwork now being completed. The move lands hours after Palace's late hijack for Malick Fofana collapsed when the winger chose Sunderland.
Chilwell, 29, knows exactly what he is walking into. In the second half of 2024/25 he joined Palace on loan from Chelsea and helped the Eagles win the FA Cup for the first time in their history, playing 11 matches. Last summer he left Stamford Bridge permanently, signing a two-year deal with BlueCo-owned Strasbourg, where he made 34 appearances across all competitions. A Champions League winner with Chelsea in 2021 and an England international, he now gives Pierre Sage an experienced, trophy-proven option on the left flank as Palace look to build on last season's cup triumph. For Strasbourg, it is another departure in a busy window between the two BlueCo clubs.
It's worth noting that Chilwell was on the pitch when Palace lifted their first ever major trophy at Wembley in May 2025, so this is less a new signing than a homecoming.
Reminder: Here we go! Sunderland pull off stunning coup for Lyon winger Fofana.
