Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran made a high-profile move to Saudi side Al-Nassr this January for €77 million. However, the Colombian’s Middle Eastern adventure turned out to be remarkably brief.
Details: Fabrizio Romano delivered his iconic “Here we go!”, signalling that Duran is on the verge of joining Fenerbahce on a one-year loan. It’s not specified whether Al-Nassr will receive a loan fee, but the Turkish club will take on the player’s full salary.
To convince the forward to join the squad now coached by Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahce’s director Devin Ozek personally flew to Duran’s homeland. It was only after this face-to-face meeting that Duran agreed to make the move to the Bosphorus.
Reminder: During his five months at Al-Nassr, the Colombian striker featured in 18 matches and netted an impressive 12 goals. Earlier reports indicated that the Riyadh-based club would soon be managed by renowned Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus.
