José Mourinho has left S.L. Benfica to take over at Real Madrid CF, and the Portuguese giants have now identified their new head coach.
Details: According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, former Fulham F.C. manager Marco Silva is set to take charge of Benfica in the near future. The transfer insider has given his trademark "Here we go!" to the appointment. Silva is expected to sign a contract running until June 2028, with an option to extend it until 2029.
The Portuguese coach has also reportedly agreed to a salary reduction in exchange for the opportunity to compete for major trophies. The move marks his return to Portugal after a decade abroad.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Argentina international and former Manchester City F.C. defender Nicolás Otamendi has completed his move to Club Atlético River Plate as a free agent.
