French referee Stéphanie Frappart will end her professional officiating career at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, the French Football Federation (FFF) has announced. The 42-year-old has already been appointed as a member of the UEFA Referees Committee, where she will continue her work in a new capacity.
Frappart, who has been an international referee since 2010, made football history as the first woman to officiate a Ligue 1 match in April 2019. She also took charge at the 2022 World Cup and refereed UEFA Super Cup matches, becoming one of the most recognizable figures in world refereeing.

The FFF emphasized that her contribution to the development of refereeing cannot be overstated. Federation president Philippe Diallo noted that Frappart has "paved the way for an entire generation of women aspiring to become referees," and her example will continue to inspire future officials.
