Skiing star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was airlifted from the course after a serious fall during the Lauberhorn World Cup downhill race. It is reported that the athlete injured his right leg.

He received extensive assistance while lying near the finish line, and rescuers secured his right leg above the knee. A helicopter landed in the finish area to transport Kilde to the hospital.

This is the second incident in two days in Wengen where a former World Cup skiing champion has been evacuated by helicopter from this renowned Swiss ski slope.

On Friday, French star Alexis Pinturault, the 2021 World Cup champion and a three-time Olympic medalist, crashed on landing the Silberhorn jump in the final section of the famous Lauberhorn course in Wengen. The skier was also airlifted to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
