Health comes first! Maurizio Sarri successfully undergoes heart surgery
The scheduled operation went smoothly.
Details: Today it was announced that 66-year-old Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri has successfully undergone heart surgery.
Sarri had previously been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, which required the Italian specialist to undergo a transcatheter ablation procedure.
At the moment, there is no threat to Sarri's life; he is recovering as planned and is expected to return to his duties within a few days.
Sarri first took charge of Lazio in July 2018. Although he left the club in March 2024, he returned to the helm in June this year.
In total, Sarri has managed Lazio in 154 matches, recording 72 wins, 35 draws, and 47 defeats. This season, Lazio sits 8th in the table with 24 points after 17 rounds.
Back in 2019, Sarri admitted to being a heavy smoker, going through around 60 cigarettes a day.
Reminder: A sensational comeback! Lorenzo Insigne could return to Serie A as one of Italy's giants eyes a transfer
