He was unstoppable. Napoli's scout recalled the first impression of Osimhen's play

Victor Osimhen joined Napoli in the summer of 2020. Former scout Leonardo Mantovani of the Neapolitans recalled his first impression of Osimhen's performance.

Details: According to the Mondiariens website, citing Radio Napoli Centrale, Mantovani stumbled upon Osimhen during a UEFA Champions League match between Ajax and Lille. Following that game, he traveled to Naples and prepared a report on the player’s performance.

Quote: "When I returned, I compiled my match report and noted that there were two other strong players: one was Soumaré, a midfielder, and the other was Osimhen. He is a forward who ran a lot, covering the entire pitch—perhaps even too much (laughs). But he was truly unstoppable," Mantovani shared.

However, according to the scout, Osimhen initially did not fit the profile of a Napoli striker. It was only after winning the Coppa Italia that scouts reassessed Osimhen and recognized that he was a perfect fit. Since then, the Nigerian forward has become a cornerstone of Napoli's success, playing a key role in the club's rise.

Reminder: Osimhen is currently playing for Galatasaray, and this spontaneous loan has raised doubts about whether the Nigerian will remain on the shores of the Bosphorus until next summer. However, the player has already made it clear about his future at the Istanbul club.
