Renowned boxer Oleksandr Usyk has spoken about his relationship with Tyson Fury in an interview with SunSport, reflecting on their fights, which have been among the most significant events in boxing in recent years.

Usyk admitted that he respects Fury and considers him the toughest opponent he has ever faced. He also made it clear that he holds no grudges against the British fighter for his disrespectful and controversial behavior in the lead-up to their bouts.

“Tyson didn’t show respect and that’s OK, no problem. It’s just a problem for Tyson, not for me. I respect my opponents and for me that’s very important,” Usyk stated.

The Ukrainian also recalled the intense stare-down before their fight, laughing about how Fury wore platform shoes to appear taller. Usyk noted that he was never bothered by Fury’s insults, emphasizing that everything leading up to the fight was simply part of the show.

Usyk defeated Tyson Fury in their rematch in December 2024 in Riyadh. Following his second loss to the Ukrainian, Fury decided to retire from boxing, officially announcing the end of his career.
