He got it wrong. Conor McGregor lost $500,000 on a bet
UFC star Conor McGregor is well-known for his interest in betting and often places wagers on various sporting events. Recently, he attempted to predict the outcome of the UFC 314 fight between Michael Chandler and Paddy Pimblett, betting $500,000 on Chandler's victory, reports Sportowe Fakty.
McGregor placed half a million dollars on Chandler to win by knockout. If successful, the Irishman would have pocketed $2.5 million.
A knockout did occur in the fight, but it was Pimblett who delivered it in the third round, thereby depriving McGregor of a hefty sum.
It's worth noting that this is not the first time the Irishman has placed large sums in betting shops. For instance, during last year's Copa America, he bet on Argentina's national team to win the tournament and was right. As a result of this win, McGregor earned over $1 million.
Recall that McGregor had planned to fight Chandler at the UFC 303 event in June last year. However, due to an injury to the Irish fighter, the bout was canceled. It remains uncertain whether McGregor will return to the octagon in the future.
