Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has praised Achraf Hakimi after the Moroccan star was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year, even though he is expected to be out until next year.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s game against Le Havre, Enrique said Hakimi has been performing at an elite level for years. “I think he played at a very high level… he’s been top-notch both defensively and offensively. He’s not just a defender; he does everything well… he needs to keep going in this direction,” he said.

Enrique added that personal awards matter less than the player’s impact within the squad, noting, “We know that what matters is being important to the team, and all the players know that.”

Despite his injury, the 27-year-old remains central to PSG’s long-term plans, with his manager emphasising his importance on and off the pitch.
