Mamelodi Sundowns started last season with Manqoba Mngqithi as head coach, but in December he was replaced by Portuguese specialist Miguel Cardoso. To his credit, Mngqithi tips his hat to his successor.
Details: The current Golden Arrows head coach has stated that Cardoso is the one who most deserves the coach of the season award, even though he only managed in the South African Premier Division for about half a season.
Quote: "I would give the award to Cardoso, because I believe the team was strong. The team lost fewer matches and conceded less... and they also scored more than any other side. If you don't give it to him, then why not? He deserves it," said Mngqithi.
Reminder: Mngqithi was dismissed despite suffering only one defeat in the South African Premier Division. The same number of losses Mamelodi Sundowns suffered under the 54-year-old coach in the CAF Champions League.
