Have they changed their mind about sacking him? Xabi Alonso is not expected to be dismissed before January

Real Madrid are set to face Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, and rumours suggested that a defeat could cost Alonso his job — but the plan has changed.

Details: According to Diario AS, Xabi Alonso will remain Real Madrid’s head coach until January 2026. At that point, the Royal Club will take part in the Spanish Super Cup, and his performance in that tournament will determine his future.

By the way, French striker Kylian Mbappé will not be in the starting line-up against the Cityzens. He will begin the match on the bench.

The match between Real Madrid and Manchester City will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday, 10 December, kicking off at 21:00 CET.

Reminder: Real Madrid are going through a difficult period, and rumours suggest Xabi Alonso’s position may be under threat. Guardiola was asked to share his thoughts on his former colleague.
