The management of Real Madrid has expressed a desire to extend the contract with the team's goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin. However, Lunin's salary demands may pose difficulties in the negotiations. According to El Nacional, the club was not satisfied with Lunin's response to the contract extension offer.

Although Lunin enjoys life in Madrid, he realizes that once Thibaut Courtois fully recovers, he will return to the bench. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has requested an increase in salary to match that of the Belgian goalkeeper's contract.

Real Madrid is not willing to meet such financial demands, considering them excessive for a backup goalkeeper. However, the club is prepared to increase his salary, but within more moderate bounds. Other clubs, such as Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and AC Milan, have also shown interest in Lunin.

Lunin's current contract with Real Madrid runs until June 2025 with an annual salary of 2.8 million euros. Thibaut Courtois, on the other hand, earns 15 million euros per season in Madrid, and his contract is valid until June 2026.
