Hasn't played since last December. Pat Cummins returns to the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for IPL 2026
Sunrisers Hyderabad have received a major boost ahead of their pivotal clash against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur—Pat Cummins is back in action and will once again don the captain's armband. This event could prove decisive for the team as they reach the halfway mark of the IPL 2026 group stage.
The Australian all-rounder has been sidelined since last December due to a back injury, which also caused him to miss the T20 World Cup. His absence was clearly felt in the SRH lineup—especially among the pace bowlers, where the lack of variety was evident. However, in recent matches, the team has managed to adapt, adding strength in depth and unleashing the potential of younger players. Now, Cummins returns not as a savior, but as a leader poised to enhance an already well-oiled machine.
The match in Jaipur will mark the first home game of the season for the Rajasthan Royals, and the home ground advantage could be a significant factor. However, SRH enter the encounter with strong momentum and their leader back in the fold. At stake is more than just points—there's a psychological edge to be gained at this crucial stage of the tournament.
