Harsh! Mourinho speaks out about Yamal

José Mourinho has made it clear that even one of Barcelona's biggest stars is not on his Real Madrid wish list.

Details: Asked by El Chiringuito whether he would sign Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho gave an immediate and categorical response:

"He's a very good player but no. We already have the best players."

The answer attracted particular attention because Mourinho is now back in charge of Real Madrid, while Yamal remains one of the central figures at their biggest domestic rivals Barcelona. Nevertheless, the Portuguese coach did not leave any room for speculation about a possible move.

Mourinho also used the question to express confidence in his current squad. Instead of discussing what the 19-year-old winger could add to Real Madrid, the coach stressed that he is already satisfied with the quality of the players available to him.

There was no suggestion in Mourinho's response that Real Madrid had approached Barcelona or Yamal regarding a transfer. His comments were simply a direct answer to a hypothetical question from the Spanish television programme.

It is worth noting that Yamal was named LaLiga Player of the Season for 2025/26 after recording 16 goals and 11 assists in the league. Mourinho, meanwhile, signed a contract with Real Madrid running until June 30, 2029.
