Harnik Urges Boniface to Deliver as Bremen Targets Turning Point
Former Werder Bremen forward Martin Harnik has challenged Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface to raise his level as the team enters a decisive period of the Bundesliga season. With the Nordderby against Hamburg coming up, Harnik told DeichStube that consistent goalscoring could transform Bremen’s campaign. He stressed that “a striker who scores reliably would help enormously… Boniface and Topp have absolute quality, they just have to show it more consistently.”
Harnik added that Werder “have good strikers,” but both players and coaches “have to find ways to finally unleash their full potential.”
Boniface, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, is still searching for his first league goal and continues to face pressure to deliver. Despite his struggles, he earned a place in Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 provisional squad. Sunday’s derby now offers a prime chance to silence critics and spark his season to life.
