Harambee Stars goalkeeper praises his coach highly Byrne Odhiambo

Kenya's national team first-choice goalkeeper, Byrne Odhiambo, has praised his coach Arnold Origi for the remarkable and dedicated work he has done, providing his players with all the necessary attention to ensure they represent their country in the best possible way.

The former Harambee Stars goalkeeper, who played 48 matches for Kenya, has returned to the national team as the goalkeeping coach following the dismissal of former head coach Engin Firat, which came after Kenya failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Morocco.

The young goalkeeper faces stiff competition from his fellow national team goalkeepers, who were also called up due to their strong performances at their respective clubs.

As Kenya prepares to participate in the Mapinduzi Cup, set to take place in January in Zanzibar, Byrne Odhiambo did not hesitate to highlight the crucial role played by his goalkeeping coach and the excellent work he has done with the team. He said: “He has helped us a lot. He emphasizes the importance of being comfortable with the ball at our feet, as it’s a key characteristic of modern goalkeeping. He insists on it, and we are making good progress under his guidance.”

Furthermore, Kenya will also compete in the CHAN 2025 tournament, which presents significant challenges for Arnold Origi. The goalkeeping coach still has much to prove with the Harambee Stars, especially in the upcoming competitions where expectations for success are high.
