Haney - Prograis. Full video of the fight and commentary from the newly crowned champion
"The newly crowned WBC Super Lightweight world champion Devin Haney shared his impressions of the victory over Regis Prograis in the title fight.
Haney secured a win over his compatriot after 12 rounds by unanimous decision from the judges - 120-107, 120-107, 120-107. Throughout the bout, Devin dominated the ring, even managing to knock down Prograis in the third round."
“I did everything I said I was gonna do. I took (his left hand) away. Occasionally, I went into it to make him throw it and I’d counter it. Other than that, he tipped his left hand off.”
Knockdown? I hit him with a sharp right hand. I knew he had a habit and we capitalized off his habit of leaning in. At times, I wanted to go (for the knockout) and hit him with big shots, but my dad said, ‘Stay focused, stick to the game plan”, - quotes Haney badlefthook.com.
It was Haney's debut fight in the new weight category. Previously, the American competed in a lower weight division and relinquished his WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight titles in favor of fighting Prograis.
