WBC super lightweight world champion Devin Haney stated that WBO titleholder Teofimo Lopez declined to fight him in October.

Quote: “I was supposed to return to the ring in October in Saudi Arabia, and the next fight was supposed to be against Teo Lopez. Turki [Alalshikh] offered him the fight. But he said he wasn’t ready to step into the ring,” Haney said.

To recall: Haney lost to Ryan Garcia on April 20. Teofimo defeated Steve Claggett on June 29 by unanimous decision of the judges.

Earlier, Lopez harshly addressed Haney, urging him to accept a defeat from Ryan Garcia and have a rematch with Garcia.

Additionally, Teofimo boldly called out WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis for a fight.
