Hamza Igamane Shines for Rangers, Earning Global Recognition
Moroccan talent Hamza Igamane has become the talk of the global sports media after his remarkable performance with Scottish side Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.
In the competition's fifth round, Rangers defeated Nice 4-1 thanks to two goals and an assist from the 22-year-old forward. Igamane joined Rangers in the recent summer transfer window from Moroccan club FUS Rabat in a deal valued at €2.36 million.
Igamane had previously been called up to the Morocco U-21 team in 2022 for friendly matches against Ukraine and Wales in Turkey. He did not play in the first match due to tactical considerations made by coach Tarik Sektioui, who instead went with striker Amine El Ouazzani. However, in the second match against Wales, Igamane made an immediate impression by scoring two goals, catching the attention of Rangers scouts, who recommended his signing.
Igamane has participated in 14 games this season in all competitions, tallying three goals and dishing out one assist. He had early injury problems, but in recent months, he has returned to his best form and level of fitness.
Igamane, whose market value is €1.8 million, has a contract with Rangers through 2029, according to Transfermarkt.
