Nigeria and Gabon went into halftime level at 0–0 in their CAF World Cup qualifying playoff semifinal at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat. The Super Eagles created the better chances, with Victor Osimhen denied twice by brilliant saves from Gabon goalkeeper Loyce Mbaba, while Ademola Lookman’s cross almost led to an own goal. Akor Adams also impressed in attack, but Nigeria failed to find the breakthrough.
Gabon, led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, threatened on the counter, with Denis Bouanga and Loïs Openda testing Stanley Nwabali. Despite Nigeria’s dominance, the Panthers defended resolutely to keep the scoreline goalless at the break.
