Hakim Ziyech Shares Message Following Pro-Palestine Protests and Fan Clashes
Hakim Ziyech, Moroccan footballer for Galatasaray, spoke out following the clashes that erupted in Amsterdam on Thursday night after a Europa League match. The altercations involved Maccabi Tel Aviv fans and pro-Palestine demonstrators, including members of the Arab and Moroccan communities, following Maccabi’s 5-0 loss to Ajax.
Ziyech shared a video on his Instagram story, saying, “When it’s not about women and children, they run away fast. Palestine is still independent.”
According to the Dutch government, 10 Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were reportedly injured and two more could not be identified as a result of the Friday morning clashes
Meanwhile, Ziyechis yet to be included in Morocco’s upcoming squad for the games against Gabon and Lesotho due to limited playing time this season. Having made just six appearances for Galatasaray, his national team future is not uncertain.
