Habib Beye sets a sad record
Two unprecedented eliminations for the Senegalese tactician in the same edition of the Coupe de France.
Appointed coach of Marseille last February after leaving Rennes, Habib Beye already has an unflattering statistic. Under his leadership, Marseille was eliminated at the Vélodrome by Toulouse in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France on Wednesday 4 March.
This is the second elimination in the competition this season for the 48-year-old tactician. Before his arrival at OM, Habib Beye and Rennes were knocked out in the round of 16 of the competition by Marseille. It was after this that the Senegalese coach was dismissed by the Rennes management.
However, Beye's latest elimination with Marseille puts the former Senegalese international on the wrong side of history. Habib Beye has become the first coach in history to suffer two eliminations with two different French elite clubs in the same edition of the Coupe de France.
