Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres has caught the eye of elite clubs with his sensational goal-scoring exploits. The Swedish forward himself seems open to a new challenge, but his departure from the Portuguese giants could turn messy.
Details: According to Record, Gyökeres has accused Sporting of breaching a gentleman’s agreement. Despite the €100 million release clause, both parties had reportedly agreed that the Swede could leave for €60 million plus a €10 million add-on.
However, Sporting are now demanding €80 million for Gyökeres. This stance has left the player feeling “furious,” as he believes the club is going back on promises made at the start of the season. That, in particular, explains why he removed references to Sporting from his Instagram profile — as well as mentions of Sweden and Nike.
Reminder: Manchester United are among the clubs reportedly interested in Gyökeres. While no official bid has been submitted to Sporting yet, it is widely expected that Old Trafford will take action soon.
