The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, held a hearing on the case between the Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT) and the Tanzanian national team.

According to the official statement from the Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT), the hearing took place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The same source indicates that the final decision of the CAS is expected in the coming days. For now, the Guinean Football Federation remains confident of a positive outcome to its appeal.

The case originated in the decisive match played on November 19, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, during the final round of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. On that day, Guinea's national team, the Syli National, lost 1-0 to Tanzania, thus missing out on qualification when they only needed a draw.

The Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT) immediately filed a protest with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), accusing Tanzania of fielding an unidentified player, in alleged violation of player eligibility regulations. After the CAF Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Board rejected the protest, FEGUIFOOT appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last June.

This legal recourse represents Guinea's last hope of securing a place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2020, to January 18, 2026.
